| The
Centre has invited bids for seven high-density road
corridors under its build-operate-transfer (BOT)
scheme for road upgradation, budgeted for the financial
year '03-'04.
The
corridors short-listed from a list of 23 include
two in Maharashtra and Rajasthan, and one each in
Jharkhand, Chattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh.
Worth Rs.90 -120 billion, these
projects have attracted as many as 115 bids, from
domestic construction players as well as several
international players- primarily from Malaysia and
Singapore.
The Ministry of Road Transport
and Highways (MORT&H) is in charge of implementing
this Rs.480-billion scheme, covering 622 km of roads,
and is distinct from the on going Rs.580-billion
